Leadership
and community development (LCD) is a programmed effort
by Imperial College of Business Studies (ICBS) to
build a strong relationship bridge between the campus
and the community. It aims to enrich the life of the
student and the community by combining the concept
of “doing well” with “doing
good”.
Most of our students come from strong and stable socioeconomic
backgrounds and have rarely been exposed to the ruthless
realities of life. They are unfamiliar with the joys
of sharing with the underprivileged, doing things
for others and helping suffering humanity. This project
aims to build a deepened sense of social responsibility.
The students can use their knowledge to address the
real life social, economic, health, educational and
environmental problems and can also have the opportunity
to make a positive difference to the world.
Direct experience is one of the best ways to learn
and develop personally, professionally and academically
and this program is a unique and thoughtfully planned
experiential learning activity that requires the students
to work for the improvement of the community. The
students design their own projects or work with existing
social organizations.
To accomplish our goal successfully we require your
assistance and guidance to arrange social internships
for ICBS students. The students are required to put
in at least six to eight hours of community every
week for a period of twelve weeks.
In this process the university benefits by graduating
students who are more well-rounded and real world
experienced, service organization benefits by having
a larger pool of dedicated and energetic volunteers,
community gains by having services and assistance
available, which may not have been offered otherwise
due to budgetary constraints.
So lets join hands to build a “Stronger
Pakistan” by helping the youngsters
to help the community.
