Final presentations of LCD program were held on January
21, 2010. Eight groups of students presented their
projects. DIG Traffic Police Retd.Captain
Usman Khan Khattak and Secretary
Higher Education Mr. Ahhad Cheema graced
the occasion as Guests of Honor and Chief Guest respectively.
All projects were highly appreciated by the audience.
‘Mian Mir Welfare Trust Hospital’,
project dealt with the renovation of the hospital
and its facilities to ensure that basic treatment
and medicines are available to the surrounding population.
Chairman Board of Governors of the hospital gave away
shields and letters of appreciation to the participating
group and LCD coordinator Mrs. Badia Raza
ComAid group helped in upgrading the facilities and
infrastructure for “Divisional Model
School”. “Road Safety”,
painted speed breakers and put up traffic signs and
conducted seminars on road safety. DIG Traffic Police
Punjab and his crew were very supportive of this group
and are responsible for the successful accomplishment
of the objectives of this group.
In another project students conducted awareness campaigns
about Punjab Consumer Protection Act
and closely coordinated with the same department.
Another group helped in upgrading Butcher
Shops in underprivileged neighborhoods.
Entertainment Brigade trained factory
workers in street theater and did performances in
different localities.
Red Alert conducted awareness campaigns
in Jaliana village against dengue, malaria and tuberculosis
.
“Factory Workers Safety Awareness Campaign”
created awareness about the use of safety helmets
and equipment in the steel industry.”
DIG Traffic Police Cap.Usman appreciated
student efforts and shared his personal experiences
of community development. He praised the efforts of
Mrs. Badia and offered support of his department for
future projects.
Secretary Higher Education Mr. Ahad Cheema
lauded the efforts of the students and the college
in community service and expressed his desire to initiate
similar programs in other institutes with support
from ICBS.After the group photograph, guests were
escorted for tea.
