Does the government
recognize ICBS?
Yes, ICBS is chartered
by the Government of Punjab vide Imperial College of Business
Studies Ordinance 2002 (Punjab Government Ordinance No. XIX).
Accordingly, the degrees are recognized by the University Grants
Commission/Higher Education Commission and by universities abroad.
ICBS is authorized by the government to award its own degrees just
like the University of Punjab or any other recognized university in
Pakistan.

Yes. You may be given
admission on provisional basis. However, in order to continue in the
program, your final results must be submitted before the commencement
of classes of your second term.
I have done
A-level, how much credit or advanced placement will I be given?
Consistent with the
norm in the US, a student with A-level pass can expect to get 6 credit
hours of credit (2 courses) for each A-level pass, subject to a
maximum of 24 credit hours.
What is the pattern of the Imperial
College
Entrance Examination (ICEE)?
The ICEE is based on
the GMAT format. The exam duration is two and a half hours and it has
4 sections on English and Quantitative skills. A sample ICEE is
provided with the application package.
If you are seeking
admission in the MBA program and more importantly, are applying for
financial aid, we strongly recommend that you take GMAT. The College
code for GMAT score reporting is 0563.
The minimum CGPA
requirement for the graduate (master’s) program is 2.50 and for
undergraduate (bachelor’s) programs is 2.00.
There are four
concentration tracks.

Information Technology
The Master of Business
and Information Technology (MBA) is a 2-year degree with a 50-50 mix
of coursework in management and information technology areas. The MBA
(IT) is the 2 year MBA with IT as your ‘major’; in this program you
would normally do 3 or 4 courses as IT electives.
Does the
College provide guidance in job
placement and what are my job prospects?
Our placement office
provides supporting services to prepare qualified students for best
possible job options available in the market.
Financial aid is
provided to students on merit and need basis. Limited number of
partial scholarships are available to the kin of armed civil servants.
Graduate (masters) Programs: the normal
duration of all graduate programs (MBA, MCS, etc.) is 2 years.
Students taking a heavier course load per term could finish the
program in a shorter time.
Undergraduate
(bachelors) programs: the normal duration of the undergraduate degree
programs (BBA, BCS, etc.) is 3 years.
After getting bachelor’s degree from ICBS what
would be the duration of a master’s degree?
The
ICBS bachelor’s degree programs are all equivalent to a 4-year American
undergraduate degree. The Imperial College BBA (Honors) has 140
credit hours of coursework; similarly, the American undergraduate
degree would normal have 120-130 credit hours. With an Imperial
College undergraduate degree you have several options:
-
Earn a master’s
degree at ICBS in one year.
-
Study for a
master’s degree at any other recognized university in Pakistan. This
would normally be one year, however, the exact duration may vary
from one university to another.
-
Go abroad for
your master’s degree; the normal destination for most student is the
US, Australia, England, or Canada. If your undergraduate degree is
in the same area as your master’s then typically the master’s degree
could be completed in one year.
If I were enrolled in bachelor’s program at
ICBS and one year later want to transfer to university in the US,
would I get transfer credit?
Yes. You can transfer
to almost any university in the US and get credit for the coursework
done at ICBS. Generally, the universities in the US give transfer
credit for coursework done at a recognized/accredited institution.
The maximum credit that you will get is limited by subject-to-subject
matches and by the residency requirements of each university. If you
will be considering transferring abroad, it is recommended (to ensure
maximum credit) that you do so before you have completed approximately
25 courses (75 credit hours). You could transfer credit to all
universities that follow the American credit hour system in Canada,
Australia or England.
The ICBS academic calendar is based on three
terms per year. Fall, spring and summer. Each term is of thirteen
weeks; this has 12 weeks of classes and one week for final exams.
Classes for each
course (3 credit hours) meet twice a week for 13/4 hour
class sessions each. Occasionally, a class may meet only once a week
for a 31/2 hour class session. Most of the classes meet on
Mondays through Thursday.
The fee is payable on
per course basis. Thus the total term fee would depend on the number
of courses you register for. You also get 10% fee discount, if the fee
is paid in lump sum every trimester.
Students during their
stay at the College have the opportunity to work as internee in a
commercial organization; moreover senior corporate executives visit
the College to exchange views with students.
